Jose Mourinho is considering a move for As Roma captain, Edin Dzeko. According to reports from Italy, Tottenham Hotspur’s scouts were in Milan to watch the former Manchester City player against inter Milan in December.
Before his season ending injury, Harry Kane played all but one league match this season, a 1-1 draw against Leicester City, a match he missed through illness. He also made five appearances in the Champions League group stage.
Since the departure of Llorente to Napoli in the summer, Spurs are left with only Harry Kane as the first team striker.
Son and Lucas Moura have been deployed to play in the center forward position this season, and Manager, Jose Mourinho has confirmed interest in another target man to serve as able deputy for the England international.
Dzeko spent four years with Manchester City. During his time at the Etihad stadium, he scored 72 goals and registered 39 assists in 189 appearances for the Citizen.
The 33-year-old has continued his impressive form since joining As Roma in 2015, he has risen to number 4 in all-time top scorer for the Italian side. I’m 32 appearances this season, the captain has scored 15 goals and provided 9 assists. Dzeko will have two year left on his contract at the end of the season, and at 34 Roma will have to make a decision on the player. Spurs will make a bid in the region of €20 million in the summer.
The Lilywhites have also identified the left back position as a priority this summer. Danny Rose was sent on loan for the last six months of his contract. He is not expected to make a return to the squad after the expiration of his loan deal with Newcastle United. The club has identified Borna Barisic of Rangers and former Arsenal left back Kieran Gibbs as the candidates to fill the position.
