Arsenal left back, Kieran Gibbs has refused to leave the emirates despite falling behind Nacho Monreal in the pecking order to play left-back for the team.
The English player who joined The Gunners from the Under-18 side of MK Dons played in the under-18 team for Arsenal in the 2004/2005 season. The left back was later sent on loan to Norwich that same season. He returned to the emirates and has been playing since then.
There are reports that Coach Arsene Wenger is considering listening to offers for the player, especially as scouts are tracking Lorient left-back, Raphaël Guerreiro, for a possible summer bid. The pacy 22-year-old Portuguese player impressed last summer for his country at the European Under-21 Championship and can also play further forward on the left wing. He is being considered for the position ahead of Gibbs and Monreal.
Arsenal have a long-standing relationship with the club, having signed Koscielny in 2010. Francis Coquelin was sent on loan there in 2010-11 and Joel Campbell the following season. Wenger sold forward, Gilles Sunu, to them in the summer of 2011, after an initial loan. Wenger looks to make changes after a dip in form has left the team fighting for champions League spot.
Gibbs has made only three starts in the Premier League this season as he is less preferred to Monreal. The player keeps on saying he will fight for first team action despite the seeming reality. He admits he is frustrated with the lack of first-team football having started just 13 games in all competitions this season but he remains reluctant to leave the English giant.
The player has two years to run on his current contract with talks expected to take place over his future at the end of the season, although no extension has yet been suggested.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is also in the same situation as he is currently battling to return to first-team action before the end of the season having been sidelined since February 23 with a leg injury but there is no guarantee he would force his way into contention when fit.
